Child Dental Services

Louisville dentists

Most pediatric doctors recommend children have their first visit with a dentist at age 3.

We agree!!! As premiere Louisville pediatric dentists, Dr. Chuck Skinner and Dr. Brian Chudleigh work with children every day. They are trained and equipped to help most patients from ages 3 to 99.

Routine services may be needed according to age.

Ages 0-2:

No dental needed unless otherwise instructed by a pediatric doctor

Age 3-4:

Happy Visit! There may be cleaning and an exam is done at this visit if the child feels comfortable. No x-rays at these appointments.

This visit is usually to help children meet the Dr. and hygienist, get used to the dental operatory and the instruments used (for instance, Mr. Thirsty and the “Squirt gun”).

These visits are usually during a parent’s hygiene visit and will be at no charge unless we are able to do a full cleaning at that time. Please let us know when scheduling your hygiene appointment so we can allow enough time for the happy visit as well.

Ages 5-7:

Children will receive routine cleanings and exams twice a year along with bitewing x-rays (cavity checking x-rays) once a year and a panoramic x-ray to show the development of adult teeth (taken every 3-5 years).

During these visits, the dentist will evaluate children to see if Orthodontics (braces) are needed.

Sealants will be recommended to protect adult 1st molars that are growing in.

Ages 8-13:
