Dental Fluoride Treatment

Body36

Drs. Skinner and Chudleigh or the Hygiene team may decide that fluoride should be part of your overall treatment. Fluoride treatments re-mineralize teeth, stop developing cavities and make your teeth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque, bacteria, and sugars in the mouth. Studies have found that the use of topical fluoride – found in mouthwashes, toothpastes, and fluoride treatments – can help prevent the damage caused by tooth decay and make your teeth stronger and more resilient in the future.

Our Louisville dentists or our Hygiene team may recommend fluoride treatments to patients who:

  • Prevent cavities-especially helpful around difficult to clean areas like crowns and bridges and softer areas of the tooth like the root.
  • Reverse early cavities (called remineralization)
  • Reduce sensitivity
  • Have receding gums. The fragile roots of your teeth become exposed to harmful oral bacteria when your gum line pulls away from the base of your teeth.

Don’t delay providing your teeth the protection they need to resist the damage caused by tooth decay and gum disease. Contact our team at Louisville Dental Associates to schedule your next dental exam and cleaning today!
